Klopp: Alexander-Arnold has ´space for improvement´ defensively

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits Trent Alexander-Arnold has space for improvement defensively when questioned over the full-back not featuring for England.

The 23-year-old was called up by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate for the fixtures against Italy and Germany, but failed to get on the pitch in either as Chelsea man Reece James played both matches.

While Alexander-Arnold has shown plenty of attacking ability over his career, registering 45 assists for Liverpool in 167 Premier League appearances, his defensive capabilities have been questioned.

And Klopp feels Alexander-Arnold could become more solid going backwards, telling reporters ahead of Liverpool s match against Brighton and Hove Albion: I see him differently. People say he s not a good defender. …

Robinho likely to move, claims agent

Robinho is likely to move away from Milan, according to the player s representative Marisa Ramos.

The Brazil international has spent four years at San Siro since a move from Manchester City in 2010, but only started 15 Serie A games in the 2013-14 campaign.

Among much speculation about a move away from Italy, Milan director Adrian Galliani confirmed on Thursday that the club were in talks with MLS expansion franchise Orlando City.

However, Galliani stated that the two sides were very far away from an agreement and on Friday, Ramos declared that his client was unlikely to stay in Milan, although held back from naming any potential destinations.

I don t think we will have a meeting with Galliani or any of the clubs looking for him today, Ramos told MilanNe…

Klopp hints at Van Dijk absence for Man City cup tie

Jurgen Klopp has suggested he will not consider selecting Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool s return to action against Manchester City next week.

Van Dijk returned to training with Liverpool in Dubai this week on the back of the Netherlands elimination from the World Cup against Argentina last Friday.

The 31-year-old played a full part in all five of his country s matches in Qatar – including extra time in the quarter-final loss to Argentina – totalling 480 minutes of action.

However, while Klopp does not want to rush Van Dijk s comeback, he has yet to make a call on England duo Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Henderson did not finish any of the three England matches he started, while Alexander-Arnold managed just 33 minutes on the field acro…

The accidental FIFA president: Infantino falls into football´s top job

Gianni Infantino became the most powerful man in world football on Friday after winning a FIFA presidential race he appeared to enter out of necessity more than desire.

The suspension of UEFA president Michel Platini from all football-related activity due to a payment of two million Swiss (£1.3million) signed off by Infantino s predecessor Sepp Blatter at FIFA in 2011 left the European federation in urgent need of a candidate.

Platini had long been viewed as Blatter s heir apparent, but the suspension of both men – they saw their eight-year bans reduced to six this week – left world football in a state of flux.

Blatter s departure would no longer be stage-managed at the Zurich extraordinary conference in the way he envisaged.

Shorn of the star qualit…

Deadspin's Top 10 Movies Of 2010

For many years, prior to the Oscar nominations, the boy from Mattoon and his friend Tim have put on their Ebert t-shirts and run down their personal best movies of 2010. It's cute. Sometimes I chime in. My list is below. 10. The Abalone and The Crestfallen Kerchief: Japanese anime sensation Kurozawa Nakamtomi Niputo stunned international audiences 12 years ago with his four-minute short film Wang-Wang, The Boulder Crusher, a sensational adaptation of The Myth of Sisyphus, and featuring Wang-Wang, the philosophy-spouting washing machine trapped in an existential crisis. In TAATK, we're introduced to another inanimate object, Penelope, the potty-mouthed kerchief who can't find a "real" man and hesitantly begins a whirlwind romance with Bonky, the smooth-talking …

The 25 Weakest, Most Pathetic Team Names in Pro Sports

data-mm-id=”_4rkcm6ipu”>We're all busy these days but it's important to never lose focus of what's really important at this particular time and place: Sports team names and their relative toughness. A lot of franchises are doing just great. You hear what they're called and it makes you do a Tim Taylor More Power grunt. Others? Well, they are disgraces. Here's a collection of professional sports franchises who should reconsider the message they are sending. Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Arizona Cardinals: Oh, what a bunch of pretty birdies! They're all so harmless you literally put food in your yard to attract them. You ever see any of these birds flying majestically over the ocean holding a shark in its feet? That's right.…
